What can I do to combat Lipedema?
Lipedema is a condition that affects the fatty tissues of the body of the person who suffers from it. It mainly affects women, but there are some cases in men, although in proportion they barely exist.
It mainly affects the buttocks, thighs, hips and arms.
Among the problems that people suffering from Lipedema have to endure is the constant feeling of heaviness in the affected areas. It usually occurs in the legs.
On the other hand, it can cause a lot of pain. This may be because the skin becomes rigid to the touch, since it is under constant pressure because the fatty tissue does not stop growing. That is the main problem with Lipedema, that the tissue grows, but does not decrease if it is not treated with WAL or PAL liposuction.
One of the peculiarities of this disease is that it does not grow by distributing itself equally through the tissues, but rather takes on an oval, ball-shaped shape that increasingly increases in size.
One of the problems that can cause the most discomfort is that it proliferates in the area before the knee, the hamstring. As it is an area in which a joint is located, it can partially cause the loss of fluid movement.
For this reason, you may not obtain any type of result despite leading a healthy life with a good diet and moderate or high rates of exercise.
So, other treatments can only make the effects of Lipedema milder, but they will not get rid of the source of the problem, the diseased fatty tissue.
Liposuction as a solution to Lipedema
Regardless of the treatment that is performed, WAL either PAL, are more than designed for the treatment of Lipedema. The importance lies in the fact that both treatments have their own method to achieve the same objective, extracting the diseased adipose tissue so that it does not continue to develop.
It is important to highlight that both techniques manage to maintain very high safety standards compared to normal liposuction, since as it involves tissue that becomes hard, it is difficult to extract. But since the WAL technique uses a serum that dissolves fat accumulations, it is easily extracted.
On the other hand, the PAL technique uses vibrations to separate the affected fat from healthy tissue. In addition, it uses tumescent anesthesia that helps the tissue to be firm and the surgeon's work to be more effective. At the same time, the patient will not notice anything at all.
